Signs that you may need root canal treatment:
Some people believe that a root canal procedure is very painful. But in fact, the actual treatment is not as painful as the pain caused by the infection itself. We start the treatment by taking an X-Ray image of the infected tooth. This helps us to see the extent of the infection, the root structures, and to check for any signs of infection in the surrounding bone.
Then, a local anesthetic is administered near the treatment area. Before the procedure, a rubber dam is placed to isolate the infected tooth. Once the tooth is dry, a hole is drilled into the tooth surface to access the pulp, and any decay and damaged nerves are removed. The area is then cleaned and disinfected before sealing it with an inert sealing material. Your tooth may need the protection of a crown post-endodontic therapy. A temporary crown can be placed over the tooth after treatment until the permanent one is prepared.
