Oral sedation is also known as pill sedation. A small pill is given to the patient about an hour before the beginning of their dental procedure. This is the easiest form of sedation as there are no needles involved. Patients generally have little or no memory of the procedure but are still able to respond and listen to us during the treatment.
Laughing gas is a colorless and odorless gas that can produce a mild to moderate sedation effect. The best part about laughing gas is that it starts to work almost as soon as the patient inhales the gas via a mask placed on their nose. The effects wear off soon after the flow of the gas is turned off.
Local anesthesia is used to prevent the sensation of pain during the course of your oral care treatments. Local anesthetics numb the nerves around the area that is being treated. They are generally injected into the treatment area right before the procedure.
